Vector tools – Text

Usage
  • This tool allows you to write text in the text area. You can select from various fonts, styles and apply various settings like text color, alignment,..etc. Change of the settings is visible in real time. Text is stored in the text layer. That means that you can change text later. Text layer can be also converted into standard bitmap layer. 

How to use
  • Position your cursor where you want to start your text area. Left-click and drag to select the area. Release the mouse button to finish selecting your text area. You should see black rectangle with control points representing text area. 

  • You can now click and drag your outside area to move it, and drag the corners to adjust it. 

  • You should see blinking text cursor in the text area. You can type text by using keyboard. 

  • You can select all text by pressing “Ctrl+A” keys. 

  • You can select text by the mouse.  Left-click and drag to select text. Release the mouse button to finish selecting. 

  • To cancel the created text, hit the “Esc” key on your keyboard or press “Cancel” button (8). 

  • To apply the text, hit the “Ctrl+Enter” keys on your keyboard or press “Apply” button (7). Once is text created then black rectangle with control points will disappear. 

  • You can edit created text by clicking left mouse button over text area of desired text. Once is text selected then you see black rectangle around text representing text area. Note that you can edit existing text only when text tool is selected and no other text is in process of creation or editing. 

  • You can convert text layer into bitmap layer by using application menu “Layer->Rasterize”. One is layer converted into bitmap layer then you can use all bitmap tools like blur, smudge, … etc. 

  • You can add masks to the text layer. 

Notes
  • If text is larger then text area then glyphs laying outside text will not be rendered. 

  • If you select different layer or mask during text creation/editing then text is automatically applied. 

Tool settings

 

  1. 1.Font – Sets/displays currently used font. 

  2. 2.Style – Sets/displays currently used font style 

  3. 3.Size – Sets/displays currently used font size 

  4. 4.Color – Sets/displays currently used texts color 

  5. 5.Align – Sets/displays currently used text alignment. 

  6. 6.Options – Not yet implemented 

  7. 7.Apply – Applies created/edited text. Once is text applied then black rectangle with control points will disappear. This button is displayed only during text creation/editing. 

  8. 8.Cancel – Cancels currently created text. This button is displayed only during text creation/editing.
