Selection tools – Rectangular selection

Usage
  • This tool allows you to select area of the image. When selection is applied to the image then other tools (e.g. paint tools, filters, …) affects only selected area. Shape of the selected area is rectangular. This tool also provides additional settings for more precise control. 

How to use
  • Position your cursor where you want to start your selection. Left-click and drag to select the desired area in your image. Release the mouse button to finish selection process. 

  • You can also combine previous selection with new selection by using selection modes. 

  • Selection can be canceled by pressing keys Ctrl+D or in the application menu “Selection->Deselect”. 

  • Selection can be inverted by pressing keys Shift+Ctrl+I or in the application menu “Selection->Invert Selection”. 

  • All image can be selected by pressing keys Ctrl+A or in the application menu “Selection->Select All”. 

  • Selection can be moved in the following way. Position mouse cursor over the selected area. If all conditions are met then cursor should change to “black arrow”. Press and hold left mouse button and move the mouse over the image. Selected area will follow mouse movements. Release left mouse button.  

Notes
  • Selection applies to whole image.  

Tool settings

 

  1. 1.Sets selection mode. 

  2. 2.Enables “centered” mode.  When this mode is enabled then selected area will created from the center. 

  3. 3.Enables “square” mode. When this mode is enabled then selected area will have square ratio. 

  4. 4.Enables “fixed position” mode.  When this mode is enabled then selected area will be positioned at defined position. Position define edit boxes 5, 6. 

  5. 5.Distance of the crop area from the left side of the image. 

  6. 6.Distance of the crop area from the top side of the image. 

  7. 7.Enables “aspect ratio” mode. When this mode is enabled then selected area will have defined aspect ratio. The aspect ratio define edit boxes 9, 10. 

  8. 8.Enables “fixed size: mode. When this mode is enabled then selected area will have defined size. Size define edit boxes 9, 10. 

  9. 9.Displays or defines width of the selection. 

  10. 10.Displays or defines height of the selection. 

  11. 11.Sets whether selection edges will be anti-aliased.
