Paint tools – Gradient fill

Usage
  • This tool allows you to fill entire image or selected area with color gradient (gradual blend between multiple colors). You can select from various gradient types and apply various settings. Change of the settings is visible in real time.

How to use
  • Position your cursor where you want to start color gradient. Left-click and drag to create color gradient in your image. Release the mouse button. Beginning and end of the gradient is represented by black line.

  • You can modify created gradient by moving control points at the beginning and end of the line. The control point can be moved by following way: press and hold left mouse button over control point and move the mouse in desired direction. Control point will follow mouse movements. Release left mouse button.

  • To cancel the created gradient, hit the “Esc” key on your keyboard or press “Cancel” button (12).

  • To complete the gradient, hit the “Enter” key on your keyboard or press “Apply” button (11). Once is gradient complete then black line with control points will disappear.

Notes
  • Only one layer can be selected during gradient creation.

  • If some areas of the image are selected then gradient will be only applied to the selected areas.

  • If you select different layer or mask during gradient creation then created gradient is automatically applied.

  • If first gradient from the listed preset gradients (in Gradient Panel) is selected then colors in this gradient are automatically taken from editor's background and foreground colors.

Tool settings

  1. 1.Sets type of the color gradient (Linear, Radial, Angle, Diamond, Spiral)

  2. 2.Displays Gradient Panel, where you can select from preset gradients or you can modify existing one.

  3. 3.Blend Mode – Sets how gradient color will be mixed with existing content. Blend modes are same as layer Blend Modes.

  4. 4.Opacity – Sets with which opacity will be gradient mixed with existing content.

  5. 5.Dither – Sets whether gradient will be dithered.

  6. 6.Reverse – Sets whether gradient will be displayed in reversed order.

  7. 7.Mirror – Sets whether gradient will be mirrored.

  8. 8.Repeat – Sets whether gradient will repeat itself.

  9. 9.Transparency – Sets whether gradient will use transparency (if present in gradient).

  10. 10. Options – Displays dialog with advanced options.

      • Squish –  Controls how much will be gradient shape flattened vertically. This control is disabled for linear gradient.

      • Density – Controls how many times is gradient repeated in angle and spiral gradients. This control is enabled only when angle or spiral gradient is created.

      • Turn – Sets whether spiral gradient will turn anti-clockwise.

      • Antialiasinig – Sets whether boundary between gradients will be antialiased.

      • Waves – Sets whether gradient will be deformed by wave function.

      • Amplitude – Controls height of the waves. This control is enabled only when “Waves” button is turned on.

      • Frequency – Controls frequency of the waves. This control is enabled only when “Waves” button is turned on.

      • Phase – Controls phase of the waves. This control is enabled only when “Waves” button is turned on.

  1. 11.Apply – Applies color gradient. Once is gradient applied then black line with control points will disappear. This button is displayed only during gradient creation.

  2. 12.Cancel – Cancels currently created color gradient. This button is displayed only during gradient creation.
